Open Call for submissions to represent Canada at the World Summit Awards
The Canadian WSA competition is currently accepting nominations for the global World Summit Award (WSA) to showcase Canadian excellence in new media. The competition elevates digital communication to the highest standards and awards those with exceptional vision.
The WSA (World Summit Award) is held biennially to honour the best in creative content in new media from around the world. Over 150 countries submit innovative projects that bridge the economic and cultural divide using digital applications.
There are two methods of applying to the Canadian WSA competition; open call and invitation. Both open call and invited applicants will compete in six categories; e-learning, e-government, e-health, e-inclusion, e-entertainment, e-science.
Open Call:
The open call is being distributed widely across Canada, and is open to individuals or companies who meet the eligibility requirements. The open call projects will be combined with the invited projects to form the complete Canada WSA nomination pool that will then be reviewed and evaluated by the jury. Nomination By Invitation:
Applicants may be nominated by members of the WSA Canada expert jury panel which will be made up of educators, industry leaders and professional association staff/executive. Each jury member may select up to three projects per category. Those persons or companies whose work has been nominated will be invited to submit an application which will be aggregated with the open call applications into the pool to be evaluated by the jury.
The deadline for all entries is Friday, July 15th, 2005.
Entry Fee:
There is no cost to apply or be nominated for consideration in the Canadian WSA competition.
Canadian New Media Awards Entries:
Canadian WSA has agreed to recognize two winners from the 2005 Canadian New Media Awards as pre-selected finalists for the 2005 WSA Awards competition. These are:
e-Culture: madeinMtl.com by Bluesponge & Locomotion
e-Business: Professionalism and Ethics Simulation – Zapdramatic
These two, plus the winners of the six categories mentioned above will be the eight official Canadian WSA nominations at the WSA global contest.
