Mentorship Program Applications Open

SaskInteractive, in partnership with CreativeSask, is pleased to announce a new, year long mentorship program for game developers in Saskatchewan, led by Michael Long of Foolish Mortals.

This 11 month mentorship program is designed for individuals or small groups who are ready to take the next step toward building a sustainable independent game studio by developing and releasing a new game within one year. The program will be delivered through a blend of in person and online sessions, allowing developers from across Saskatchewan, including those not located in Saskatoon, to participate.

Who this program is for


This program is intended for game developers who meet the following criteria and are seeking these outcomes:

  • Have at least minor game development experience, such as creating a hobby game or participating in a game jam
  •  Are interested in starting their own independent video game studio as a full time career
  •  Are willing to complete homework and assignments outside of scheduled sessions
  •  Are prepared to develop and release a brand new video game within one year as part of the program

Program Details

  • Length: 11 months
  • Format: Combination of in person and online sessions, and one-on-one mentorships
    • 11, 3-4hr workshops. Includes presentation, exercises and homework afterwards
    • 30 minute, one-on-one meetings/check-ins once per month per mentee
  • Eligibility: Game developers based in Saskatchewan

Pricing and Application Deadlines

For SaskInteractive Members

  • Early bird cost: $25
  • Early bird application deadline: January 5, 2026
  • Regular cost: $50
  • Final application deadline: January 19, 2026

For Non Members

  • Cost: $500
  • Final application deadline: January 19, 2026

Mentor

Michael Long, Foolish Mortals

Michael Long is a veteran game developer who runs Foolish Mortals, a Saskatoon-based indie videogame studio. Michael is the lead developer and is a programmer by trade, having obtained a Masters degree in Computer Science. His games have won multiple federal & provincial grants. Radio General has won several awards such as Games For Change and has been used to teach WW2 history in local highschools. He's done it all, shipping titles on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Playstation 4 and mobile. Michael is a pillar of the local game development community, running the popular monthly Saskatoon Game Development meetups, and runs the twice-yearly Saskatoon game. He's also a mentor for the International Game Development Association.
